Patchwork and Quilting is such a fun and diverse hobby. This class is for anyone who wants to fine-tune their piecing skills or completely start learning from the beginning.

Adventure 1:

Practical Patchwork: What is Practical Patchwork? Learning how to make basic quilt blocks, what a 4-patch is in contrast to a 9-patch, and other traditional blocks through the ages.

You will learn:

  • How to obtain a perfect 1/4" seam no matter your machine model or brand
  • Precision cutting
  • Best pressing methods
  • Patchwork techniques

Class registration fee includes your choice of 6 Fat Quarters, 4 pre-cut 2 1/2" strips of coordinating colors and a Spool of Aurifil 50wt cotton thread.

Adventure 2:

Applique Patchwork: Applique is the process of sewing fabric on to a background fabric.

Learn five methods for Applique suitable for any quilt.

  • Needle Turn Applique by hand
  • Invisible machine applique
  • Blanket stitch Applique
  • Satin Stitch Applique
  • Decorative Edge Applique

Machine owners will love how easy it is to create hand-look applique and add a fancy touch. You will also learn how to perform hand applique as well.

Class registration fee includes a Kit to create one 12" finished floral wreath block.

Adventure 3

Y-Seam Patchwork: This method is less popular with the rise of home sewing machine use. However, you can stitch a Y-seam with a sewing machine with a n1/4" foot—NO PROBLEM!

You will learn how to draft, mark, and cut diamond shapes to make a LeMoyne Star and the proper methods for piecing to turn you into a pivot pro.

Adventure 4

Curved Seam Patchwork: Sewing seams on a curve is represented by traditional blocks like the Drunkard's Path, but you can also use this method for more modern blocks like a Seed Block or a simple, gently curved modern quilt.

You will learn how to make a template with a 1/4" seam Allowance, stitch a curved seam, and turn your patchwork into a modern Seed Block.
