THIS IS AN In-Person EVENT Hosted by BERNINA of Naperville at the BERNINA Creative Center. Guests are welcome from all over. 

Our Retreat features not one but two tracks, so you can choose your own adventure. Both tracks are appropriate no matter what you currently sew on. Don't have a BERNINA? No Problem. Don't know a thing about longarm quilting? No problem... That's even better ;)

Track One: The Domestic Loop with Gayle from BERNINA of Naperville

Day 1: Learn how to make a sweatshirt from scratch to finish, all on a BERNINA Serger!

  
  • Day 2: Learn heirloom sewing techniques such as drawn thread work, entredeux, pintucking, rouching, and more. You will fashion your piece into a hanger cover suitable for protecting your favorite blazer or dress.
  • Day 3: Piece a quilt with quick quilting techniques, then quilt it in the hoop with edge-to-edge quilting and learn how to turn a border corner, all on a BERNINA 990 or B 790 ULTRA.


Track two: Adam Sew Fun Brings it on! Join Adam Rateliffe from Adamsewfun.com for some fun Longarm olympics

  • Day 1: Making new habits and Breaking Bad ones. You will load a quilt backing, batting, and top with Adam as he gives you tips and training and educates you on the best tools to use to be as efficient as possible when preparing your quilts on the frame. You'll also practice your freemotion skills, have time to get your groove on with doodling on the machine, creative background fills, plus more.
  
  • Day 2: Who needs a sewing machine... pshaw! You will construct a tote bag from scratch on only the Q24 using rulerwork, freemotion and some creative encouragement from Adam.
  • Day 3: Once again, who needs a sewing machine when you can stitch and flip your heart out to create a pieced quilt on the Q Series Frame. After the quilt is pieced, you will use Q-matic to add your special quilting touch.

Lodging recommendations:

Retreat fee does not include Travel Costs or Hotel stay. If you are staying at one of our recommended hotels, we have made shuttle arrangements from the hotel to and from the Creative Center and/or BERNINA of Naperville each day for a nominal fee. More will be determined as classes fill.
