Learn to finish your quilts on a domestic machine with all the control of your walking foot! Start with a discussion of the basics to ensure success, including preparing your quilts for quilting. Then make samples of different styles including modern grids, matchstick quilting, altered stitches, and combined stitches.
Supplies:
- 7, 10” squares solid color fabric
- 1, 10” square pieced blocks of any design
- 4, 10” squares low loft cotton batting
- White 50 wt cotton thread for quilting (eg Aurifil, Wonderfil, Superior….)
Equipment:
- 50, size 1 safety pins
- Scissors
- Low-tac painters’ tape
- Rotary cutter, mat and ruler (12” or longer)
- #80 sharp (Microtex) or sewing machine needles
- Sewing machine with walking foot, with any acrylic surround, knee lift and instruction book
- *(if your machine has an integrated dual feed system or similar you do not need a walking foot. Please use open toed appliqué foot that works with the system)
- Paper and pen for notes
